About Us

personal development coach-clare Hello, and many thanks for stopping by-I hope you'ree enjoying your visit.

I'm Clare Walker, life-coach and author, and I have a confession to make...

No amount of practice seems to make it any easier to write this kind of page without it all seeming like so much trumpet-blowing (that's tooting your horn, if you live in the States)...

So here are just the facts, stated a sif in answer to questions. Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Who is this "us" that's mentioned on the site?

That's easy enough, me, plus the wonderful Jim, my husband and site support wizard. (Picture coming soon!). Plus the various kind assorted people who help with the testing of products, and all the clients alongside whom I've learnt so much over the years-thankyou to all of you.

How many years exactly-what's your background?

Originally, I read law at Magdalene College Cambridge, and became a barrister. (Yes, I did own the obligatory horsehair wig that went with the job-and no, neither it nor the job suited me one bit).

After a spell working in the City (of London that is, if you're reading this elsewhere) finally even I realised the truth that people had seen coming for ages: I was in the wrong job. This period of my life gave me great empathy with people who hate theirr jobs too, but also a springboard into personal development.

For the record, since 1998, this personal and professional development included: over eight years as a life coach and trainer, five years as a personal development tutor at London's  Mary Ward Centre at becoming an NLP Master Practitioner, learning and teaching various kinds of meditation mind-body techniques, serving clients and organisations from all walks of life, and writing Be the Life and Soul of the Party (as seen on BBC1's  "Breakfast").

When did Selfworks start?

Selfworks began in 1998, originally just a the trading name covering on-the-ground training and coaching.

Now and the future...

Now, and moving into the future, whilst helping people in the "actual" world remains crucial Selfworks.Net aims to bring you "personal development for the Real World" wherever you are, via resources that are clear, great value, and easy to just, "download and get on with it".

So, there you have it.

Thanks again for visiting-enjoy yourself whilst you're here, and do get in touch if there's anything I can do to help.

V. best wishes

Clare
